“Soldier, Civilian, Young or Old every one needs a role model in their life. ”
After marrying at the tender age, I was forced to live in an unfamiliar place, where the language and culture was drastically different. This alien place with new faces had strangled my freedom and speech.
The isolation and desperate need of people had driven me to the brink of insanity. All the barriers which seemed unsurmountable for the past three years, now had become a piece of cake for me after meeting my mentor Joice Pinto!
Though I had become a mother of two girls, my thirst for progress in life was unquencheble. My mentor was twice my age. Her generosity, kindness, teachings skills, caring and sharing personality traits are etched in my memory.mimt
She gradually moulded me into this scary foreign world. I mentally and emotionally became her own daughter. I remember her teachings more than my mother’s. She used to sense my needs without me voicing my thoughts . She is a magnificant woman .
She had three children , two boys and a girl . Unfortunately we had to move out of that place. We moved two blocks away from her but, I continued to visit her place with my children. After a year or so they bought a house, that place was far off from us. The physical distance between us kept increasing , but “our hearts are one” and no geographical distance can build a barrier between us. As a farewell gift, she gave me a beautiful saree which I still treasure and cherish and will continue to do so in the years to come. As my memory serves, I have never either helped nor gifted her anything .She is my Godmother who embraced me and was there for me always! I pray to God to meet her one last time before we go back to our original place.
